Immunological Cancer Therapy Takes Precedence

The human body is very tough. It can take a lot of abuse and still manage to function. However, just like a well-built machine, it is the internals of the human body that matter more than what is outside. So if something attacks from within, there is a chance that it may be enough to take over the entire body.

There are many diseases that do this. They attack the body from the inside, targeting vital organs. However, human invention is not something to be underestimated. We have come up with cures to numerous such diseases, preventing them from causing permanent damage.

That said, there are some diseases that still send shudders down our spines. Cancer is one of those. It is one of the most deadly diseases that human beings have had to deal with, and one of the most difficult ones to cure. The World Health Organization states that 8.2 million people died of cancer in the year 2012. This just adds more weight to the fact that this disease is one of the most dangerous ones in the world today.

That is why we are coming up with new ways to defeat this disease every day. And now it seems like an immunological treatment for cancer may be promising enough to take precedence over more conventional methods.

Using Body’s Own Anti-Tumor Response

This new therapy, created by Claudio Acuna from the University of Santiago in Chile, aims to improve the body’s own immunological response against tumors. It is for those people who are showing signs of cancer or are diagnosed with it already. This treatment is to act as a vaccine, and might be enough to take precedence over other cancer treatments.

Cheaper and More Versatile

The reason why this treatment is so interesting is because it can be applied to a variety of cancer patients. These include people suffering from breast, lung, prostate, colon, or skin cancer. Unlike chemotherapy or radiation therapy, this new treatment does not have any side effects on the human body whatsoever.

The other very interesting aspect of this new creation is its price. Acuna says that once the treatment gets patented and comes into the market, it won’t cost more than $750. That is a very small number as compared to the thousands of dollars people spend on other treatments. Acuna says that this treatment will cut down medical costs globally by around 70 percent.

The price is a huge factor to consider with this immunological cancer treatment, which is why we think it may just take precedence over conventional treatment methods.

The method is still in its early stages and hasn’t been tested clinically. The makers are waiting to get their treatment patented in the United States so that they can take its production to the next level and people can actually see what it can do.

There have been many new treatments for cancer lately, each one with something unique of its own. That is a testament to the fact that human beings do not give up, and that human intelligence and motivation may be enough to help us all defeat diseases like cancer one day.
